About Larry
Larry Giammo, 44, grew up in Colesville (in eastern Montgomery County), where his parents continue to live today. Larry’s wife, Rebecca, originally from Albany, New York, is a writer for Zero to Three, a nonprofit focusing on early childhood development. Larry and Rebecca welcomed their daughter, Ella, in March 2002 and their son, Bennett, in April 2005.

ü Six years as Mayor of RockvilleLarry was first elected Mayor in November 2001 (with 57% of the vote) and reelected in November 2003 (with 61% of the vote) and November 2005 (with 71% of the vote). He worked hard to move the revitalization of Rockville's town center forward and to better manage growth in order to improve Rockville's quality of life. Larry made it a priority to forge much stronger relationships with the county, state and federal governments in order to help achieve Rockville's goals. Under Larry's leadership, the city government earned a AAA credit rating, which is very rare among cities of Rockville's size, and made important progress on a range of other issues. ü Five years on the Rockville Planning CommissionLarry's record as a planning commissioner demonstrated his thoughtfulness and his commitment to: balancing growth with road and school capacities, putting residents’ interests ahead of developers' interests, strengthening neighborhoods, and protecting the environment. ü Key role in the development of the Town Center Master PlanAs chairperson of a town center master plan advisory committee, Larry developed and advanced the plan (adopted in 2001) for a new world-class, pedestrian-friendly town center with restaurants, shops, residential housing, and ample parking. ü Proven track record as a senior executive and business leader Prior to running for Mayor in 2001, Larry was the managing director of the Corporate Leadership Council, a business unit of the Corporate Executive Board, which is a Washington, DC-based firm providing business management advice and best practices research to major companies worldwide. He played a key role in launching the business unit in 1993 and in growing it to over 100 employees and $30 million in annual revenue.
ü Results-oriented with key management skills As a consultant with Mercer Management Consulting, Larry helped clients in the US and Australia achieve multi-million dollar operational improvements. He began his career with GE Information Services in Rockville and London, with responsibilities in financial analysis and budget management.
ü Relevant education:s Master of Business Administration (MBA), Carnegie-Mellon Universitys Bachelor degrees in both Finance and Economics, University of Marylands Graduate of GE's Financial Management Program
